Honoring a Legacy
The Story of Lunar Gems
The legacy of Lunar Gems traces back to HLD (Hikkaduwa Liyanage Daniel), my great-grandfather, who was the first to recognize the true value of Sadakan Pashana, widely known as Moonstone. Before his remarkable discovery, the residents of Meetiyagoda and the surrounding villages viewed these stones merely as decorative objects, often used as doorstops or simple home adornments. It was HLD's keen eye and passion that brought Moonstone's hidden beauty and potential to light, transforming the local gemstone industry and forever changing the way Moonstone was perceived.
Building on my great-grandfather's legacy, I am proud to be the fourth generation carrying forward this Moonstone heritage. Over the years, we have evolved our family business to not only focus on mining these precious stones but also to integrate this craft into the tourism industry. Our company now offers a wide range of Moonstone products, from rough stones to expertly cut and polished gems. In our workshop, skilled artisans craft beautiful handmade jewelry and other gemstone items, each piece reflecting the dedication and tradition passed down through generations.
At Lunar Gems, we are committed to maintaining the authenticity and natural beauty of our gemstones. We guarantee that all our Moonstones are 100% natural, preserving the essence of this exquisite gem as envisioned by my great-grandfather. Our goal is to share the rich history and artistry of Moonstone with the world, offering a glimpse into the timeless craftsmanship that makes these gems truly special.
